This half term, in Maths lessons, Year 6 will be learning the following:
Within each of these areas, the children will strengthen their fluency and build upon developing their reasoning and problem solving skills.
We will be learning about place value in numbers up to one million; this will include ordering, comparing and rounding numbers. In addition to this, Year 6 learn about negative numbers; this will include adding and subtracting as well as interpreting graphs with negative numbers.
The Four Operations
Year 6 will be learning the written methods for addition (column addition), subtraction (column subtraction), multiplication (short and long multiplication) and division (short and long division). They will then use their fluency skills to reason and problem solve.
