Literacy

Literacy (approx. 30 mins – 5 min video / 20 min activity)

  • Watch Miss Sutton’s video from the Literacy resources section.
  • You will also need to follow the link for: ‘I like to move it, move it’ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdcTmpvDO0I You could watch this prior to watching Miss Sutton’s video.
  • What’s your favourite animal and how do they move?
  • Miss Sutton’s favourite animal in the Madagascar video is the monkey when they were moving their arms in the air and jumping up and down because they looked like springy frogs.

Activity:

  • Draw a picture of your favourite animal and how they move or dance.
  • Add labels to your picture.
  • Write sentences to describe your dancing animal.
  • Use the word ‘because’ in your writing. Don’t forget your fingers spaces and full stops!

Resources:

  • Paper, pencils
  • Device to watch video
  • Template for writing and drawing (not essential) (Literacy Weds template)

 

Maths (Reception)

(Approx. 30 mins)

  • Pause video at different points and complete challenges.

Activity:

  • What objects in the video show 4/5 – discuss. (5 mins)
  • Can you collect groups of 4/5 items from around the house. Match them to the number 4/5 (15mins)
  • Or use the pictures and chart to sort 4/5. Cut them out yourself to improve your cutting skills! (Sheets to download: Sorting 4 and 5 / Sorting 4 and 5 table) (15mins)

Maths (Year One)

Phonics

(Approx.  20mins)

  • Today we are recapping the sounds learnt this week – th and ee.
  • Watch Geraldine the Giraffe focus on ee: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qfM7Hz7US0U
  • Choose an ‘ee’ activity to complete: ee real and beegu words / ee roll and read / writing ee.
  • Later, recap ‘th’. Watch Geraldine the Giraffe focus on th: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6U354eD-hgQ
  • Geraldine also looks at ‘th’ making the other sound th (bit louder than we practised).
  • Choose a ‘th’ activity to complete: th real and beegu / th roll and read / writing th and ng words.
