Witch and Wizard Training!

This morning we had a very exciting letter from a wizard that he delivered to our classroom. He has asked for our help to capture the Aspis Dragon but we need to train as witches and wizards in order to help him. Today we completed some Maths training that will help us crack codes and next week we have some more training. Keep your eyes peeled for further Aspis Dragon updates in the next few weeks!

Welcome Back!

We hope that you had a relaxing Easter break and ate lots of chocolate eggs!

This term our topic is 'Flaming Hot!'

We have already brainstormed all the things we would like to learn about this term, including; The Great Fire of London, the beach, volcanoes...the list goes on!

Make sure you check out our incredible writing on the Great Fire of London! Pop in and take a look at our books and our amazing art work up on the washing line.

Updates and Notes

Sun Lotion

As the weather gets warmer, please apply sun cream on your child before school  We are happy to help your child with sun cream throughout the day but it must be clearly labelled; we will not allow children to share sun cream.

Reading

We are always on the lookout for parents to come in during the week to hear children in the class read.  Reading is a fundamental skill in life and we want to give the children as many opportunities to practise these skills as possible.  Come and speak with myself if you feel you can support us with this.

Any concerns or worries then please come and speak with one of the Hedgehog team; we are always happy to listen and help.

Warm regards,

Mole Team

Andrew Goldsworthy

We have been exploring the artist Andrew Goldsworthy, he used lots of natural materials to create interesting pictures; particularly spirals. We had a go at recreating some of his artwork ourselves. Take a look...

Let's Get Busy!

Take a look at some of the things we have been getting up to this half term...

Firework Fantasia

What a fantastic morning we had in Mole class this morning! We were very lucky to have lots of grown ups join us for a creative morning decorating biscuits, making sparklers, glitter fireworks and colouring fireworks. We can't wait for the next one!

Diwali

At the start of the week (31st Oct) we celebrated Diwali, we read the story of Rama and Sita and made our very own divas just like from the story. It was great seeing them all lit up!

Sticks, Stones and Bones

Dinosaur Park

Take a look at some of our pictures from our trip to the dinosaur park. We had an amazing time! Keep your eyes peeled for more pictures next week.

Rosh Hashanah

We have been learning all about Jewish new year. We learnt about the traditions. Did you know that Jews eat apple and honey to represent the beginning of a sweet new year?

We all got to try some apple and honey and some pomegranate after we talked about the different traditions.

Sticks, Stones and Bones

Have you heard about Gigantosaurus? We read a book all about him and thought of lots of questions that we would like to ask Dean Lomax the Paleontologist ready to send him some letters next week. We made our very own dinosaur fossils using clay and models.

Subtraction

This week we have been learning about subtraction. We started off using cubes and Numicon to help us work out the subtraction problems, now we can use number lines to count backwards. Make sure you take a look at our working wall to see some of the tricky problems we have been solving.

Yom Kippur

On Wednesday we looked at Judaism and learnt about the festival on Rosh Hashanah. This is when Jews ask God for forgiveness, we thought about things we would like to be forgiven for and wrote them on paper flowers. We put the flowers in the pond and watched the water wash away our writing. We discussed that this represented God washing away our sins and forgiving us.

Did you know it was National Chocolate Milkshake Day on Friday?

We all got to try some chocolate milkshake to celebrate. Take a look at the milk-staches!

Shared Reading

Mole class were very lucky today to have Otter class join us for some shared reading. We shared our reading books and our favourite stories with the older children from Otter class. Please take a look at our photos below.

Wow super reading everyone!
