Spring 2
The beginning of this half term, Year 2 will be continuing to explore materials, their properties and uses. We will be putting some materials to the test to see if they are flexible, strong and waterproof.
Science Week!
The theme of Science Week this year was ‘Growth’.
We began the week by going into the Enchanted Forest library and looking for books about our science theme. Some of us found books about the growth of plants and animals. Some of us found books about the growth of the human population. Others found books about the growth of imagination.
We chose the ones we liked the most, brought them back to the classroom and wrote book reviews about them.
We planted cress in potatoes to hopefully make cress hedgehogs.
Spring 1
This half term our focus in Science is the uses of everyday materials.
We will explore the properties of different materials and their suitability for particular uses.
Autumn 2
We have been learning about living things and their habitats. We have used MRS GREN to identify if something is living or not living. We have explored what living things need to survive and the habitats they live in, as well as the food chains that exist in those habitats. Finally we made habitat boxes to show all that we have learnt.
