This Week's Timetable

Welcome back! We hope you've had a wonderful half term and have had some well deserved time to rest! We look forward to hearing all about it in our Monday morning meet where you can share your 'magical moments' from half term!
 

Google Meets

We will be continuing to have our whole class meets to talk you through the work for the day and motivate you for the day ahead! The timetable is as follows:
'Magical Monday' - 9:05am
'Trivia Tuesday' - 9:05am
'Wake up Wednesday' - 9:05am
'Thumbs up Thursday' - 9:05am
Friday Squirrels Sharing Assembly - 9:05am
In these meetings it is so important that you stay muted unless we ask you to speak. We also need you to remember to be sensible like you would be in a normal lesson in school with us. Please only join the meetings at the time we have asked you to. The link will always be posted on Google Classroom just before it starts.

Miss Cross is going to be running some maths extra help groups on Tuesdays and Fridays at 11am. Let us know in our morning meets if you will be wanting to join for some help!
There will also be a reading and spelling intervention group at 9:30am on Tuesdays and Fridays (you will have already been contacted if you are in this group).
 

Make sure you are logging onto Google Classroom every day so you don't miss any updates and can see the links to the Google Meets. They will always be posted a few minutes before the meeting begins. We will be continuing our Google Meet lunch time check-ins Monday-Thursday with the same groups as before at 12:30pm, where we can talk to everyone individually! We look forward to catching up with you this week! 

Uploading Work

It is so important that you keep uploading your work each day so we can give you feedback and understand how we can help you. The instructions on how to log into Google Classroom and upload work are below, but I know most of you are doing this every day now which is fantastic to see! Every day there is an assignment for Literacy, an assignment for Maths and one detailing the work for the whole day. Please add work to the appropriate lesson assignments where I have put a blank document for you to edit. This document is for you to add photos of you work to, or to type your work onto - choose whichever way is easiest for you. It would be really helpful if you could add work under the correct lessons so I can see who is accessing the work and completing it. Every lesson will be worth 100 points which you will receive when I return your work back to you with my feedback. Make a booklet to help you keep score of how many points you gain this week and the winner will be announced on Friday!

Learning This Week

For Maths this week, some lessons will be of me teaching you and others will be some other videos to help you. We are now moving onto division, so to break it down and ensure you are understanding, keep going back to my videos to help you! We are working on 3d divided by 1d first and then 4d divided by 1 digit using the bus stop short division method. If you find anything tricky, please don't worry. Come along to the maths support sessions if you are unsure about anything, or please email me.

For Literacy you will be doing some SPaG, as well as continuing with our Titanium unit where I will be teaching you on videos I have recorded again.

Please enjoy spending some time reading a book, either to yourself or with someone else. If you would like to borrow some books from school, you can collect them every week day between 9am and 2pm. Please add to our new reading tracker each time you read so we can work as a class to reach our weekly target again! Find the link in the new email I will send to you on Monday for our new challenge this week. This is also a great way for us to see what you are reading at home too :) I have added a book review template for you to fill out when you finish a book! Each day I will continue to be uploading a video of myself reading you our new class story, so sit back and watch/listen to that when you can :) I hope you enjoy it!

We are so excited for Feel Good Friday, our wellness day again this Friday! This is a day for you to take time away from your screens and enjoy some exciting activities where you can be creative, active, relaxed, outside or inside! There will be lots of new options to choose from so look out for this on Friday :)

The timetable is to help you keep organised, however you do not have to do the tasks in this order! Give what you can a go and please get in touch if you are struggling with anything.

SPaG - Grammar

SPaG - Spelling

Click on the link provided below, and this will direct you to today's spelling lesson on our new topic: Suffixes. Please could you complete Lesson Two: To practise and apply knowledge of homophones, including test. You will need to watch the video and pause it at specific intervals to complete the activities and test :)

Type your work out on the google doc on the English assignment for Monday on Google Classroom, or upload photos of your written work to the assignment.

Maths

For today's Maths lesson, please watch this video that I have filmed of myself teaching you alongside the maths slides! Make sure you have some paper ready to do Teacher Led and the Paired Work from the slides with me. I have attached the slides below for you to see as well.

We are continuing to do the bus stop method for: 3d divided by 1d. If you are finding this tricky, come and see me at the maths help group tomorrow at 11am if you need some extra support.

Below are the worksheets for today. Mark your own work once you have had a go at the questions. If you want a challenge, complete the Greater Depth questions too. Please upload photos of your work, or type your answers and how many you got correct onto the Google Doc under your maths assignment today on Google Classroom.

Maths

For today's Maths lesson, please watch the video below where you will learn about using remainders. You may have started to use them on yesterday's worksheet, so today have a go at adding the remainder on the end of your answer using a small 'r'. Follow along with the video like teacher led. On the worksheet, please do up to question 10 and if you want a challenge, the greater depth work is the final few questions.

We are continuing with the bus stop method for: 4d divided by 1d, with remainders. If you are finding this tricky, come and see me at the maths help group on Friday at 11am if you need some extra support.

Art

Maths

For today's Maths lesson, we are moving onto our next topic: Fractions. This first lesson is looking at 'What is a fraction?' to help you recap from Year 4.

Please watch the White Rose video to help you with completing the worksheet today. You can add your answers in on the digital editable worksheet on Google classroom if you wish. To challenge yourself, have a go at the greater depth questions too. Please upload all of your work to Google Classroom so I can see how you get on with our new topic.

If you struggled at all with the remainders work with division, please come along to the maths session with Miss Cross at 11am tomorrow (Friday). If you are finding the fractions work hard, I will do two maths sessions next week on it to help you then.

Science

We are starting a new Science unit today. Watch this lesson: Why do plants have flowers?

Google Meets & Zooms

I am doing a maths help group at 11am on Google Meet - so please let me know if you have struggled with division at all this week so I can help you! Tell me in the morning meet if you will be coming.

Some children also mentioned doing another Google Meet so they can come and see their friends for a catch up! This will be today at from 12-12:20pm.

Barnham Primary Feel Good Friday:

We are so excited to bring you Feel Good Friday again today! Below are a selection of NEW activities for you to enjoy today, away from your screen! Choose one (or more) activities from each section to do throughout the day today :) Under today's assignment on Google Classroom, there is a shared powerpoint for you to add photos of what you get up to for everyone to see!

I have attached below the next chapter of the story for you to listen to. We have nearly finished it now so by Thursday we will be on the final chapter which I will read to you live! Make sure you have caught up by then :)  If you do any reading today and over the weekend, don't forget to add it to our reading tracker! Just click the link in the latest email I've sent you :) Let's reach our class target of 2,300 minutes by the last Sunday (7th March) before we come back to school!
