Literacy
(Approx.30 mins – 15 min teaching video, 15 mins activity)
Activity:
- Join in to retell the story of the ‘Bat who learns to dance’
- Maybe you could facetime a grandparent, friend or family member and retell the story to them!
- Using Mr Gullian’s story map (or your own) to add some labels to the characters or label their actions.
- Have a look at the example ‘Tuesday labelling example’ to see what I mean.
- Put your label into a sentence or two. Remember finger spaces and full stops! For example,
The freezing bat flapped its wings to get warm.
Resources:
- Paper, pencils
- ‘Tuesday labelling example’ and ‘Tuesday labelling’ sheet or your own story map from last week
- Device to watch video
Maths (Reception)
(Approx. 30 mins)
- Pause video at different points and complete challenges.
Activity:
- How many cubes are there?
- Can you make different shapes with 4 cubes? Check that you still have 4!
- Repeat with 5.
- Gather cubes/cube shape objects and see how many different shapes you can make!
Resources:
- 5 Cubes – you could use: oxo cubes, bricks, dice, jelly cubes, chocolates – whatever you have J
Maths (Year One)
(Approx. 30 mins)
- Watch this video: ‘Subtraction – taking away-crossing out’ (7mins)
Activity/ Resources:
- Paper, pencils
- Device to watch video
- Separate sheet (Yr1 Tuesday Maths warm up + worksheet)
Phonics
(Approx. 30mins)
- Watch Miss Sutton’s video: ‘oo – long sound’
- Pause it at the relevant points for your child to answer any questions, practise letter formation or to fill in each part of the sheet.
- The sheet is called ‘Phonics- oo – long sound.
- If you do not have access to a print, please don’t worry – children can write it out on a piece of paper, the sheet isn’t necessary but may just be handy as a reference J
