Literacy

(Approx. 30 mins – 8 mins teaching video, 20 mins activity)

 

Activity:

  • Join in with ‘Humpty Dumpty’
  • Pause the video and join in. What does humpty dumpty look like/taste like/smell like?
  • Draw a picture of humpty dumpty using your imagination.
  • Describe humpty dumpty to a grown up/sibling/teddy.
  • Add labels to describe your drawing of humpty dumpty.
  • Listen to Miss Doherty telling the story of the gingerbread man through a song.
  • Read the sentence with Miss Doherty.
  • Read the next sentence ‘Stop said the dog’ – draw a picture to match the sentence.
  • Draw two more pictures from the story and write sentences to caption them.

Resources:

  • Paper and pens
  • Monday literacy sheet (not necessary but may be handy as a reference)

 

Maths (Reception):

(Approx. 30 mins)

Activity:

  • Pause and answer the questions as the video plays.
  • Talk about what jobs we do at day time/night time.
  • Use the pictures to talk about and sort activities that you do at day/night.
  • You don’t need to print these – you can just use the pictures as a prompt for your conversation.

Resources:

  • Device to watch the video.
  • Day and night sorting pictures.

 

Maths (Year one):

 (Approx. 30 mins)

  • Watch this video: ‘Comparing addition and subtraction statements (A+B > C+D)

(13mins) (Bottom right video)

Activity/ Resources:

  • Paper, pencils
  • Device to watch video
  • Separate sheet (Yr1 Monday Maths warm up + worksheet)

 

Phonics:

(Approx.  20mins)

  • Watch Miss Sutton’s video: ‘ow’
  • Pause it at the relevant points for your child to answer any questions, practise letter formation or to fill in each part of the sheet.
  • The sheet is called ‘Phonics: ow’.
  • If you do not have access to a printer, please don’t worry – children can write it out on a piece of paper, the sheet isn’t necessary but may just be handy as a reference.
