Hi Foxes,
I am going really miss seeing you everyday and am going to really miss teaching you and am already looking forward to us all getting back together after half-term.
Please do not panic if you find some bits too tricky (or too easy!)  Just do your best.
Very best wishes

Friday 15th January

Hi everyone,
Another week completed!  Well done everyone.

If you are able to access it, please log on to the Google meet at 9.30 this morning.

We will have another Google meet at 9.30 on Monday morning.

For the spelling activity, do some revision and then ask a parent, or a brother or sister, to test you on this week's words.  How many did you spell correctly?
There is some more maths and English work to complete and then, in the afternoon, catch up on any unfinished work and -if you have time in the afternoon or over the weekend, why not try cooking some biscuits by following the recipe  on the attached video.

I will be back in school next week teaching the children of the critical workers but I will do my best to respond to emails as quickly as I possibly can..

It would be good to hear what you have enjoyed doing this week and also to hear what books you are reading too.  Talking of books, the final chapter of The Firework-Maker's Daughter are posted below.

Have a great weekend!

The Firework-Maker's Daughter: Chapter 7 (Part1)

The Firework-Maker's Daughter: Chapter 7, Part 2

Thursday 14th January

Hi everyone!
I have set he usual spelling and mental maths in the morning followed by Maths and English lessons,

This afternoon, I have prepared some French work, You can either print off and complete the ID card (see below) or you might prefer to make your own ID card on paper. You could make it as a booklet if you wish.  As an extension, you could add more detail (such as eye and hair colour).
Don't forget to keep playing TTRockstars and to work on your tables on the Mathsframe website and I hope you are finding time to read your own books too.

Don't forget to click on the 'Google' meet link for a catch-up tomorrow morning at 9.30am.  If you could all mute your microphones to begin with, that would be great, as there is a lot of distortion with all our microphones on a at the same time.  Don't worry, everyone will have a chance to join in!  I plan for the meeting to last up to 9.45 so we all have chance to get our work done in good time.

Have a good day!

Wednesday 13th January

Hi everyone
Thank you to everyone who managed to send their work in yesterday.
Please click on the link below to see Vicar Karen's collective worship.  I have also uploaded the next chapter of The Firework-Maker's Daughter for you to listen to later on.
Could you please email me a photo today or tomorrow of something you like in nature (please see Mrs Arnold's assembly on the Fox Class remote learning page or click the link below for more details).
For spelling, use the slide and write the correct word into each sentence.  (I have put a Google slide below for you to use, or you can copy the sentences out on pare if you prefer).
Today's maths is division revision (I like the rhyme!)  In case some of you find it quick and easy I have attached some next step problems too.
I forgot that we would usually so PE on a Tuesday and set science work instead.  This afternoon, watch the video and join in the workout with Marcus Rashford - let me know how you got on.
And don't forget to play TTRockstars - can we beat both the Badgers and the Squirrels?

Tuesday 12th January

Hi everyone.
It was great to see so many of you on the Google meet yesterday and I am glad to see you al  looking so well.  It was also nice to see your pets.  If you were NOT able to meet up yesterday, please try again this morning at 9.30am.  Click on the link code (found on the picture of the fox above the 'stream' page).  I know it can be frustrating when ICT problems occur (I often have to ask Miss Potter and Miss Anderson to help me out at school!)  Just keep trying your best.
For spelling, copy out the first three words on the list.  Keep joining your letters!  Can you then put each word into a sentence?
If you could try submitting the science slide once you have completed it, that would be marvelous.
Don't forget to go onn TTRockstars against Badgers and Squirrels!
Have a good day!

Monday 11th January

Hi everyone!

Well done for getting on so well and for working so hard at home.

It would be great to see you online this morning for a quick catch up  Click on the 'meet link' on the Google Classroom for a meet-up  at 9.30am to see your friends from our class and to share something you enjoyed doing at the weekend.  The link is on the picture of the fox above the stream section.  You can also click on 'meet' on the classwork section.
Apologies in advance if I am a bit sweaty and out of breath - I have promised my girls that I will do a Joe Wicks workout at 9am!  I am looking forward to seeing you!

I have posted some work based on another of Philip Pullman's books.  I know how much you enjoyed our work on The Firework Maker's Daughter and will read the rest of this week and post clips so that you can find out how Lila's quest ends.  Let me know how you think 'I Was a Rat!; compares.
(It looks like I have posted lots of maths but three of the pages (with ANS) are the answer sheets for last week's work so that you can see how well you did).
For spelling, complete the first activity on the slides (copy the words out and circle the 'ee' sound).

Congratulations again on beating Badgers in the Battle of the Bands.  This week we have a new competition against Badgers AND Squirrels.  Can we beat Year 5 too?

Have a good day!

Friday 8th January

Hi Foxes,

The links below will take you to all the work I have set today on Google Classroom.  If you are having trouble accessing Google Classroom, Miss Anderson has produced a really helpful guide to getting logged on: look at the remote learning section on the Badger Class page but remember that our class code is hzfiavz

Well done - you have made it through the first week of home learning!  It is now five weeks to go until half-term.  This morning, you can either practise writing the last few spellings on this week's list and then put them into sentences or you can complete the 'fill in the gaps' activity (you could copy the passage out with the missing words on paper to save printing it off.  There is a mental maths activity and a multiplication lesson to complete too.  If you finish, see if you can improve your Table Checker score on Mathsframe.  Well done to Kiah-Bo for getting 25 out of 25.  Can you join the 25 Club too during this lock-down?

I have posted some English work on reading for pleasure.  It would be great if you could answer the questions on the Google doc on Google Classroom (see link below) and then hand it in to me electronically - then i can give you feedback online.
In the afternoon, you could complete the reading river by drawing the river (or making a Google slide show).  For more information, watch the Oak Academy video on the link below.  Use the afternoon to do any finishing off, to play TTRockstars, Mathsframe and to read a book for your own pleasure.  Have a good weekend!

Thursday 7th January

Hi everyone,
Hope you all got on ok yesterday.  Today I have set some more work on apostrophes.  The answers can be found at the end of the sheet to check your work once you have finished.  The videos should be helpful.  Try the online quizzes too (see the BBC link below).  For spelling, practise the next three words on the list and put each word into a sentence. The maths videos can be found by clicking on the White Rose link below.  Today you will need to watch the video clip on factor pairs.  If you finish early, play TTRockstars (we are beating Badgers at the moment!)  You can also try to improve your score on the Mathsframe tables checker and enjoy the maths game on the Mathsframe site.  If you would like an extra challenge, have a go at the lessons on the Oak Academy website on multiplication and division.    In the afternoon, watch the video and write down at least five things that you have learned about the Vikings and add an illustration for each.  (you could do this on paper or as a Powerpoint or a Google slide).

Wednesday 6th January

Please make the most of any free time to practise your times-tables and to read lots of books.  Play TTRockstars (we have another battle this week against the Badgers) and keep enjoying the tables games and tables checker on 'Mathsframe' (see link below).
For spelling today, put the words 'famous', 'adventurous' and 'advantageous'' into sentences.
I will check my emails at least twice a day but I apologise in advance if I don't respond straight away as I will still be teaching the children of critical workers during the day.
Please do send me your work electronically - I will look forward to seeing what you have been up to.
