Tuesday

Blue writing (except links) is Year 1 work/extension

Literacy

(Approx.40 mins – 17 min teaching video, 20 mins activity)

For Reception children, it may be a good idea to break this lesson down and stop before your child loses concentration – it could be broken down over two days J

Activity:

  • When watching the story map – talk about how to hold your pencil – Miss Doherty needs some more practise, she isn’t holding her pencil properly! (Check the picture to make sure you are holding your pencil properly: we say ‘nip, flip, grip’.

  • Pause the video after Miss Doherty has drawn the first 3 parts of the story. Now draw your first 3 parts of the gingerbread man story.
  • Continue watching the rest of the video – PAUSE it again and draw the next 3 sections of the story with the fox.
  • Continue watching then PAUSE once more to draw the FINAL part of the story.
  • If you are still concentrating and engaged, retell the story of the gingerbread man using your story map.
  • Watch the last bit of Miss Doherty’s video and talk about your favourite part of your story map.
