Don’t stress about getting work done today!
Enjoy time in the snow and being snuggled up warm together!
A few challenges:
1. Who can make the biggest snowball?
2. What can you use for your snowman’s eyes and mouth that you can find outside?
3. Where does snow come from?
4. What temperature is it outside?
5. How will the snow disappear?
6. Is snow good or bad for wild animals?
7. Can you throw and catch a snowball?
8. Can you make a snow animal?
9. Can you photograph your snowy garden?
Monday
Blue writing (except links) is Year 1 work/extension
Literacy
(Approx. 30 mins – 10 mins teaching video, 20 mins activity)
Activity:
- Guess Miss Doherty’s nursery rhyme on the recorder! Remember if something is tricky, keep practising!
- Sing your own nursery rhyme about the Gingerbread man or the characters in this story.
- Play spot the difference. How many differences did you spot?
- What is an adjective? A word that we use to describe.
- Write the sentence by ‘saying the word, robot-ing the word and then writing the word’.
- Don’t forget to hold you pencil properly, Miss Doherty hasn’t got it right and is still practising.
- Write a sentence to describe the picture of the fox.
- Write 4 sentences. Use the words ‘and’ / ‘because’ to join your sentences together. E.g. The red fox was smiling because he saw some food and was feeling hungry.

- Pause it at the relevant points for your child to answer any questions, practise letter formation or to fill in each part of the sheet.
- The sheet is called ‘Phonics: er’.
- If you do not have access to a printer, please don’t worry – children can write it out on a piece of paper, the sheet isn’t necessary but may just be handy as a reference.
