Week Three 30.3.20

Monday 30th March 2020

Attached below are the tasks for Literacy, Maths and SPaG. The learning objective for Literacy is based on setting description; the learning objective for Math is focused on ratio; and SPaG focuses on changing words into nouns and then putting these within sentences.

Literacy

For Literacy I would like you to watch the following video (Alma), this has been taken from The Literacy Shed website.  After watching the video, I want you to focus on describing the setting.  I have taken three images (shots from the video) and I want you to build up a bank of sentences, phrases and vocabulary that describe the setting. Use your knowledge of metaphors, similes and personification.

I have attached the video, a document for you to record your ideas and an additional document that gives you sentences stems to give you guidance. Remember: use an online thesaurus to up-level your language.

Maths Information

This week the focus will be learning about ratio. Please follow the link: https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-6/ to access your lesson. I would like the children to only focus on lesson five (Using Scale Factors). Watch the tutorial, answer the questions and then mark them using the answer sheet.

If you finish, feel free to complete the mastery questions (greater depth questions).

Tuesday 31st March 2020

Attached below are the tasks for Literacy, Maths and Science. The learning objective for Literacy is based on the Literacy Shed Video 'Alma', identifying thoughts and feelings a character has; the learning objective for Math is focused on ratio; and Science focuses on microorganisms. For science, sort the helpful and harmful microorganisms and carry out the investigation if you can.

Literacy

For Literacy I would like you to watch the following video (Alma) again, this has been taken from The Literacy Shed website.  After watching the video, I want you to pretend that you are Alma (write in 1st person) and list the thoughts and feelings you may have. The thoughts you may have could be rhetorical questions and the feelings you may have will usually be just one word or a phrase.

I have taken a number of images (shots from the video) and I want you to write your thoughts and feelings for each image.  Remember you are Alma so write in 1st person. Remember, you can use an online thesaurus to up-level your language (mainly feelings).

Maths Information

This week the focus will be learning about ratio. Please follow the link: https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-6/ to access your lesson. I would like the children to only focus on lesson one of week two (calculate scale factors). Watch the tutorial, complete the flashback, answer the questions and then mark them using the answer sheet.

If you finish, feel free to complete the mastery questions (greater depth questions).

Wednesday 1st April 2020

Attached below are the tasks for Literacy, Maths and SPaG. The learning objective for Literacy is based on the Literacy Shed Video 'Alma', creating sentences that demonstrate sounds; the learning objective for Math is focused on ratio; and SPaG focuses on changing words into adjectives.

Literacy

For Literacy I would like you to watch the following video (Alma) again, this has been taken from The Literacy Shed website.  After watching the video, I want you to pretend that you are Alma (write in 1st person) and create sentences that show sound.

I have taken four images (shots from the video) and each image has a caption that demonstrates a sound. I want you to show that sound through fantastic sentences.

For example: 'The door opened', a sentence for this could be: I cautiously pushed the door open. The high pitched elongated creak filled the air with an eerie sensation.

Remember you are Alma so write in 1st person. Remember, you can use an online thesaurus to up-level your language.

Maths Information

This week the focus will be learning about ratio. Please follow the link: https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-6/ to access your lesson. I would like the children to only focus on lesson 2 (step 7) of week one - Ratio and Proportion Problems. Watch the tutorial, answer the flashback, answer the questions and then mark them using the answer sheet.

If you finish, feel free to complete the mastery questions (greater depth questions).
