Thursday 2nd April Hello everyone, I hope you all have a good Easter and hope to see you all soon. Here are the key pieces of work that I have been posting daily on the Google Classroom, in case you had missed it and wanted to catch up over the next couple of weeks. Hi Squirrels!

Literacy - We will be completing our posters and will then present our findings to the class.  

Maths - We will be practising our time-tables using 'Beat the Wall' and 'Table Mountain' and will also complete some mental maths challenges

Art/ Science -We will be completing a carousel of activities on our project on the importance of bees.   

Reading: Please spend 15 minutes reading your reading book and talk about what is happening.  Look at the VIPERS attachment to help you ask and answer questions on your story.

Times Tables -Please spend 15 minutes practising your times tables on TTRockstars.  These tables are set to match your child's ability.

Spellings - Please spend 15 minutes practising this week's spellings.  These are taken from the Year 5 spelling lists in the National Curriculum.

Wednesday 18th March

Attached are teaching slides for Squirrel Class today

 

Literacy - We will be writing a captain's log entry from then point of view of Shackleon reflecting on his decision to take five drew members on the James Caird and head for South Georgia, leaving the rest of the crew behind.    

Maths - We will be solving problems involving  finding the lowest common denominators in order to add more than two fractions. 

History - We will  be creating posters to present the research we carried out in yuesterday's lesson.

Tuesday 17th March

Literacy - We will be creating a 'conscience alley' to explore whether or not Shackleton should stay or leave Elephant Island.  We will list the reasons for staying and the reasons for staying.  We will then each write a paragraph to explain our personal opinions.  

Maths - The children will be continuing work on finding the lowest common denominators in order to add more than two fractions. 

History - The children will be researching artifacts used on Shackleton's voyage by finding out what they are, where, when and why they were used.  They will be using information from the Scott Polar Research Institute website.

Monday 16th March

Attached are teaching slides for Squirrel Class today

 

Literacy - The children will be reading and discussing Shackleton's plans to take the lifeboats to sea.  We will be planning a letter from the point of view of Shackleton to his wife to explore his worries and fears as he tries to protect his crew. 

Maths - The children will be completing work on finding the lowest common denominators in order to add more than two fractions. 

PE - The children will be practising their hockey skills.

PSHE - We have a visit from a nurse who will be discussing the importance of health and hygiene and will be demonstrating how to ensure hands are washed thoroughly.
