Activity:
- Use your story map from yesterday (or the copy of the story map in resources section ‘Gingerbread man story map’) to retell the story with Miss Doherty.
- Step the story by watching and pausing the video to repeat.
- Say the word ‘run’, use your parrot or robot arms to segment the sounds in ‘run’ – r-u-n.
- Miss Doherty still needs to practise her pencil grip – make sure you don’t copy her!
- Draw a picture of part of the story and write the word to describe it e.g. A drawing of the gingerbread man running and the word ‘run’.
- Draw a picture and write a sentence to describe it e.g. The gingerbread man hopped onto the fox’s nose.
- Use your phonics to sound out the words – In school, we would expect the words to be spelt phonetically e.g. nose : n-oa-s’ / gingerbread – j-i-n-j-er-b-r-e-d.
- Create a word bank with words that your child may need help with first, before writing.
- On the template, there are some words already written for you in the word bank.
